Holiday Break

Over break, my uncle took me to his office in New York City. He walked around with me and my cousins. We went to the m&m store, Disney store, and then saw his office that overlooked Times Square. After that, we walked around more, got food, and saw the Rockefeller tree. I love New York so it was really fun!

Other than that, I didn't do much. I hung out with some of my friends a couple times. For the most part, I layed in my bed and watched Netflix. My older brother took me to IHOP when he got home from college. Also, I babysat my younger cousin and her friends. Overall, my break was good but uneventful.

Shake Shack

Shake Shack's Shroom Burger.
Shake Shack's original location in NYC.
Shake Shack's Location on Google Maps.

My favorite restaurant is Shake Shack. It is a chain restaurant located on 479 New Jersey 17 Paramus, NJ. They serve gourmet takes on fast-food classics like burgers and fries, and frozen custard. From the beginning the restaurant was not meant to be a chain, but it was meant to be a single shop designed specifically for New York City. However, as the original locations sales continued to grow, the owner and his team realized that they could try to go for an expansion. Since it opened, Shake Shack has grown to be the largest part of the USHG's (Union Square Hospitality Group) portfolio. Its average store performance is $4 million which is more than twice of McDonald's average store performance within the United States. In addition to the USA locations, Shake Shack has locations in London, Istanbul, Moscow, Beirut and Dubai. Shake Shack is all about trying to go back to old fashioned burger joints with a more gourmet twist. One of their burgers are the ShackBurger which is a cheeseburger topped with lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce. Another burger is the Shroom Burger which is a vegetarian option that is a crisp-fried portobello filled with muenster and cheddar cheese, topped with lettuce, tomato and ShackSauce. In adition to burgers, they sell hot dogs. One of their hot dogs is the Frisky Dog. It is a hot dog topped with spicy tomato-simmered onions and kraut. To see more options on their menu, go to their website. My favorite thing to get there is the Shroom Burger since I'm a vegetarian. If this restaurant was closed, I would probably go to Panera Bread because that is my second favorite restaurant. In conclusion, Shake Shack is a great burger place that takes you back to the past. • A keyboard case for iPhone users who want a physical keyboard
  • The Typo2 is a lightweight keyboard case
  • It packs a week of battery life, and starts at $99
  • However, the case blocks the home button on the phone
  • Also, you have to charge the case separately from your phone.
  • Overall, it's good if you want a physical keyboard but it blocks the touch ID sensor

The quote "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." by Mahatma Gandhi is inspiring. To me, it means that you have to go out and make a change. You can't just wait on other people to change the world as you sit and complain on how messed up the world is. One way I would want to improve the earth is by trying to save endangered species of animals. Also, by trying to rescue animals in cruel environments like some zoos. Another way I'd like to help improve the earth would be by making sure all children have an education available. Therefore, my goals when I'm older would be to either be a teacher so young children can grow up to have an education or to study to help endangered animals.

Do Now 12/2

I would add a swimming class to our school. I would also have to add a swimming pool. The class would meet on the weekends for practicing and sometimes meets. Also, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays we would meet at school. You would have to try out to make it in the class. However there are not extremely high standards since this is a class and we know people are still learning.

The class would practice every weekend. Before meets, we would gather early and have a practice. At practices, the class would practice swimming faster than they can already. Also, they would work on diving. For warmups for the class they would do stretching and some forms of yoga. Overall, the class would be a fun way to make new friends, feel like part of a team, and help people have more swim skills.

My Weekend

This weekend, I went to Shake Shack with my friends. Shake Shack is a burger place based on old fashioned burger stands. I'm a vegetarian so I got a mushroom burger, fries, and a shake. The food was really good. We stayed for a while there and it was fun. We spent more time talking and laughing than actually eating. After that, we went back to my friend's house to hang out for a little while. We watched a movie together in her room. After that, all of us went home. It was a fun night overall.

10/27 do now

To me, a presentation means to inform and entertain someone or multiple people. You go up on stage or behind a podium and try your best to make others happy or make them more informed. Ask the audience questions and try to make them interested. You can be engaging to your audience by sounding like you are happy to be here. Also, to bribe people to come with material items or food. If you interact with your audience, you will more likely connect with them. When presenting, you should talk to the person, not talk at them. Also, always make eye contact with your audience members.

Google's Nest Learning Thermostat

In 2011, Tony Fadell and Matt Rogers released their new thermostat. The Nest did more then just did more than just show a smart design. The new heat and AC incubators that have came are all slight variations on the same energy-efficient, customization-focused theme. The Nest Learning thermometer is not the first "smart" thermometer to come, but, because of its unique shape it has changed the game. Its dial takes ideas from retro thermostats, but some new tweaks gave it modern appeal. The Nest Learning Thermostat adapts to when you come and leave your house so you don't have to worry about setting fixed Home and Away schedules. Also, if you buy a Nest Learning Thermometer it will send you energy reports based on your usage to guide you toward a heating and cooling routine that is better for the enviroment. The Nest costs $249.

Do Now 9-29

An editorial is a newspaper article written by a writer that gives an opinion on a specific issue.

Some of my teachers have told me that Wikipedia is a good way to get information. Others have told me that it is not reliable. They have told me that you can't trust it because anybody can go on the website and change the information. Many of my teachers don't let me use Wikipedia as a source. When I ask why, they say they want all the information in papers to be reliable and they don't think that the information on Wikipedia is that. After reading the editorial, my thoughts on Wikipedia have changed. I used to agree with teachers somewhat because anyone could change the information. Now, I trust it more and believe it's reliable.

Tiny Robot Learns to Fly a Real Plane

A doll-sized robot has learned how to use a simulator to fly an aircraft designed for humans. The robot's name is Pibot which is a combination of robot and pilot. Pibot is 15.6in tall. Pibot has a video camera built into its "face", with software built in for runway detection and other visual cues. The rest of the buttons, sticks and switches allow the robot to control throttle, braking pitch, yaw, altitude, velocity, and direction, information is fed to the robot directly through wires.
The Pibot hasn't flown a full-sized plane yet, but the team has plans to escalate the project to that stage. The robot already successfully flown computer simulations -- and a real-world, scaled-down model biplane.  For more information read here
